According to the Green Bay Press Gazette, recycling will be a priority at the upcoming Green Bay Marathon. They will make an effort to separate plastic water bottles from the rest of the trash generated. This continues a trend towards ‘green‘ racing.
The May 17 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon will continue last year’s effort to separate plastic bottles from all other garbage, said Sean Ryan, race director.
“Running events do not have a very significant carbon footprint, outside of all the people driving to the start and finish, and there’s only so many things we can do to address that,” he said. “What we can address is the trash that’s generated on site at the event.”
